Tactical/Home Defense Shotgun
This course is designed to provide the responsibly armed citizen the skills and repetition to best utilize their shotgun for defensive purposes.
Defense Shotgun Course Description:
This course is designed to provide the responsibly armed citizens with the skills and repetition to best utilize their shotgun for defensive purposes.
We address some of the myths, misconceptions, and the lore surrounding a shotguns capability. We demonstrate what a shotgun is actually capable of and have you actively participate in finding out what your shotgun with what type of ammunition is truly capable of doing.
Price is $250 (includes range fees)
Material Covered:
- How to best set your shotgun up for success
- In-depth discussion on what is the best shotgun type, gauge, shot selection, i.e.: bird shot, 4 buck, 00 buck, slugs, other
- You will get to experiment with your shotgun on an actual house wall. (You can’t try that at home) You will be able pattern your shotgun by shooting at targets at various distances to determine maximum point-blank range for you and your ammunition selection.
- Fundamental manipulations and marksmanship
- Sling and method to attach (2 point preferably), sling fundamentals
- Emergency and tactical reloading, different and unorthodox shooting positions including proper use of cover
- Method to carry additional ammunition; bandolier, pouch, caddy, etc
- Eye & Ear protection
Necessary Equipment:
- Any properly functioning shotgun. 20 gauge and 12 gauge are the most common. Other gauges, sizes can be used as well
Equipment/firearms can be provided free of charge (Excluding ammunition)
- 100* rounds of bird shot
- 5* rounds of slugs
- 15-20* rounds of buckshot. If you can bring an assortment of loads and brands the better. It’s about you learning what works best. aka: D.O.P.E. data on previous engagement
- Weather appropriate clothing as well as sunscreen
- Note pad and pen
- Plenty of water and lunch

This is a 2-day pistol course with Frank Proctor a Retired Green Beret and 2 Division USPSA Grandmaster.
His brand of shooting is FAST ACCURATE EASY. He has been shooting and training as a Profession and a Passion for over 20 years. Over this amount of time he has gathered a lot of information, knowledge, experiences, failures and successes.
This course is the current curation of his knowledge and experiences in shooting and training to do it better.
Here's what to expect:
Priority on what matters most in shooting.
Shooting of any kind even performance shooting is a simple thing. He break it down into things we need to SEE and things we need to DO.
We'll start by listing those things and then start working through exercises that will help us grasp the concepts and build habits to execute those concepts on demand and at any level of performance we want to train to.
He will present the concepts in a simple and easy to understand/digest way. He believes and will share with you how he feels shooting and training can be very intuitive (LET IT DO).
The information presented will be heavy on concept and light on technique. Rather explain the concept of what needs to executed and as humans we are very adaptable and will create our own techniques that work best with our individuality. He believes that teaching technique first binds people and prohibits growth. He will share some techniques that through the challenges presented to him in his shooting experiences his mind and body adapted... they may be helpful to you or you may be able to develop something from them that works well for you.
